Alison joined Mind in November 2017 and has delivered training on managing mental health in the workplace to a diverse range of organisations in the private and state sector, working with managers, non-managers, and senior leadership. Alongside this role, Alison is a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice, working with a broad spectrum of mental health conditions and client presentations. In both these roles, she finds the human connectedness, diversity of people and reflective discussions enormously rewarding.
In her previous career, Alison spent 15 years in the corporate sector, primarily in investment banking and digital publishing. There she had her own experience of mental ill health, suffering from severe depression and anxiety, and so knows first-hand the importance of support from managers and peers. It was her personal recovery journey that inspired her to retrain and develop her current career. As a result, Alison is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues in the workplace and equipping employees at all levels with the tools and resources to support their colleagues and teams.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys running in the beautiful parks of South West London, paddle boarding on the River Thames and spending time relaxing with her family and friends.
